W. Michael Gear and Kathleen O’Neal Gear are New York Times bestselling authors and nationally award-winning archaeologists with 18 million copies of their works printed worldwide. They have published 84 novels and over 200 non-fiction articles in the fields of archaeology, history, and bison conservation. The Gears have won numerous awards, including the Mountain Plains Library Association’s “Literary Contribution Award,” and the “Owen Wister Award” for lifetime achievement in western literature. In 2015, they were honored by the United States Congress with a “Certificate of Special Congressional Recognition,” and in June of 2021 they were inducted into the Western Writers Hall of Fame.

Together, they have written the international and USA Today bestselling North America’s Forgotten Past Series and the Anasazi Mystery Series. Some of Kathleen’s books include the Black Falcon Nation trilogy, Maze Master, and Crimes from the Lost Island while Michael has penned The Spider Trilogy, The Morning River, and This Scorched Earth among others.

These prolific and renowned authors will bring their insights to Cheyenne, Wyoming for Laramie County Library Foundation’s Booklovers Bash, and the evening promises to be as exciting as the many worlds they write about! Their talk will be accompanied by dinner, a silent auction, a live auction, and the infamous dessert dash.
