Pine Bluffs Branch Library

History of the Pine Bluffs Branch Library

The first branch library of Laramie County Library System opened March 15, 1923 in Pine Bluffs with 1,199 books. In the spring of 1926, the town built a new community house with a front room dedicated to the library. Ten years later, a branch was established north of Pine Bluffs in Albin to reach residents who lived between the two cities. The Pine Bluffs branch moved to the town hall in 1953, where it remained for 15 years. In 1968, the Albin branch closed and the following year, the Pine Bluffs branch moved to a larger storefront to better accommodate the community and other rural towns.

The Pine Bluffs branch serves a population of nearly 1,200, with access provided to Laramie County School District #2 and the surround rural areas in the county. It is located next to the town police department, down the street from the newspaper and across from Farmers State Bank.
