Josiah Film Discussion

February 6, 2020 @ 6:30 pm - 8:30 pm

Harriet Beecher Stowe’s Uncle Tom’s Cabin sold 3,000 copies in its first day. By the end of its first year in print, the book had sold over 300,000 copies in the United States alone, eventually becoming the best-selling novel of the 19th century. But was there a real Uncle Tom? Josiah chronicles the life of Josiah Henson, the man who was Stowe’s inspiration for Uncle Tom. The movie is an epic tale of courage and bravery in the face of unimaginable trials. Discussion afterward led by activist Monica Jennings.
