Pet 911: What to do When a Pet is Injured

This session with Dr. Nolan Bunting will focus on what can be done for a pet in the first minutes after an injury. The session will cover taking a history, preliminary assessment, stabilization and transport, and basic training in first aid techniques including cleaning wounds, bandaging, tourniquet application, and basic splinting. It will also cover remote resources available for emergencies such as the ASPCA Poison Hotline as well as additional training resources. Attendees will leave feeling more comfortable dealing with the first steps in a pet emergency.

Presenter’s Bio:

Dr. Bunting is a veterinarian at Cheyenne Pet Clinic. He is a Colorado State University graduate whose training focused on accessible veterinary care, preventative medicine, exotic and wildlife veterinary care, and disaster response. He works applying the field of veterinary medicine to the public through Street Dog Coalition, National and State level Veterinary Medical Reserve Corps, and various rescue centers in Wyoming and Northern Colorado.
