Explore your roots and uncover stories that connect generations. The Laramie County Library System’s Genealogy Collection offers a wealth of resources to help you trace your family history. With more than 20,000 books and microforms, you’ll find materials covering the United States and other countries, including military records, passenger and immigration lists, family histories, genealogy journals, and much more. 

Genealogy Collection

Located on the third floor of the Cheyenne Library, the Genealogy Collection provides access to: 

  • Over 20,000 genealogy books and periodicals in print and on microform 
  • Online databases such as Ancestry Library Edition and Heritage Quest 
  • Recommended genealogy websites, including FamilySearch.org and FindAGrave

Technology and Equipment

The genealogy room is equipped with everything you need for research and preservation:

  • Six public computers for internet genealogy research
  • ST-200X reader/printer/scanner for microfilm or microfiche (also connected to a flatbed scanner for books and documents)
  • Minolta 6000 reader/printer/scanner for microfilm or microfiche
  • Two microfilm readers and two microfiche readers
  • Photocopier/printer and free wireless access
  • Printing and photocopying are available for $0.10 per page
