Library Card Art Contest

Your Art. Your Library. Your Card.

Each year, our community has the opportunity to help shape one of the most recognizable parts of the library—its library card.

The Library Card Art Contest is returning for its second year, once again inviting community members of all ages to create original artwork that could become an official Laramie County Library System library card.

Your Design Prompt

This year’s contest encourages participants to design artwork that highlights the creativity, interests, and perspectives that make our community unique.

Just as the library supports a wide range of interests, ideas, and experiences, the contest encourages artists to create designs that reflect what inspires them.

Your design could be inspired by:

  • Nature and Wyoming landscapes
  • Music, sports, hobbies, or travel
  • Imagination and creativity
  • Technology, gaming, or science
  • Community and culture
  • Personal interests and experiences

There is no formal theme, and artwork does not need to be library-themed.

2026 Contest Dates

Entries open: Week of May 18

Entry deadline: June 23

Community voting: July 1–15

Winning designs available beginning September 1, 2026

Contest Guidelines

Residents of Laramie County of all ages may participate in the contest. Only one submission per person will be accepted.

Four winning designs will be selected, with one winner in each of the following age categories:

  • Ages 0–6
  • Ages 7–10
  • Ages 11–14
  • Ages 15 and older

Accepted mediums include:

  • Fine art, including acrylics, drawings, oils, prints, or watercolors
  • Digital media
  • Photography

Designs should be created at double the size of a standard library card, measuring 6.75 by 4.25 inches, to ensure they can be properly formatted for printing.

Selected entries will be featured in an online public voting process from July 1 through July 15.

Winning artwork will be featured on official LCLS library cards beginning September 1. New and replacement library cards are available at no cost to Laramie County residents.

The contest officially opens the week of May 18.

At that time, participants will be able to:

Completed paper entries may be returned to any service desk.
