Pine Bluffs Branch

Serving Pine Bluffs and eastern Laramie County since 1923

The first branch library of the Laramie County Library System opened on March 15, 1923, in Pine Bluffs with 1,199 books. In the spring of 1926, the town built a new community house with a front room dedicated to the library. Ten years later, a branch was established north of Pine Bluffs in Albin to reach residents who lived between the two cities. The Pine Bluffs branch moved to the town hall in 1953, where it remained for 15 years. In 1968, the Albin branch closed, and the following year the Pine Bluffs branch moved to a larger storefront to better accommodate the community and surrounding rural towns.

Today, the Pine Bluffs Branch Library serves a population of nearly 1,200, with access provided to Laramie County School District #2 and the surrounding rural areas of the county. The branch offers access to library materials, technology, and programs, supporting learning, connection, and community engagement in eastern Laramie County.

Looking Ahead: A New Library Space for Pine Bluffs

On September 29, 2025, the Laramie County Library System announced the purchase of a building in Pine Bluffs to provide expanded library services in the community. This purchase was made possible through the generosity of the Town of Pine Bluffs.

The new building creates opportunities to expand services beyond the limits of the current space and reflects LCLS’s commitment to its 2025–2030 Strategic Plan—particularly the goals of expanding access across Laramie County and reimagining library spaces to better serve community needs.

The new facility opens the door for children’s programs, increased technology access, small business support, and public gathering space. The goal is to create a space that honors the community’s character while offering innovative resources for learning, discovery, and collaboration.
