A New Mobile Library Is Coming Soon—Here’s What You Need to Know

Laramie County Library System is excited to share that a brand-new Mobile Library is on its way. This upgraded, full-service vehicle will help us reach more residents than ever before, bringing books, technology, Wi-Fi, early literacy resources, and expert library staff directly to communities across Laramie County.
But before we can hit the road, we need time to prepare.
Bookmobile Service Will Pause January 5–February 16
To ensure a smooth and safe transition to the new vehicle, all current mobile library service will be suspended beginning January 5. During this time, the bookmobile will not be visiting any stops, picking up holds, or checking out materials.
The temporary pause allows our team to:
- Train staff on the new vehicle and its upgraded features
- Finalize routes and schedules
- Prepare the new collection layout and technology
- Ensure the Mobile Library is fully ready for the community on launch day
We want to be sure that when the Mobile Library rolls out for the first time, everything is in place to offer the most welcoming and seamless service possible.
The New Mobile Library Launches February 17
Once the transition is complete, the new Mobile Library will begin visiting communities on February 17. The updated vehicle replaces the former bookmobile and includes enhanced accessibility, improved interior space, and updated technology to better support early literacy, learning, and connection.
If you’ve used the bookmobile before, you’ll find the same great services—plus a fresh design and new features that help us reach even more readers.
Why This Matters
The Mobile Library is an essential part of our mission to ensure that every resident of Laramie County has access to free library services, no matter where they live. This project directly supports Strategic Plan Goal 1: Expand Outreach, Marketing, and Access by helping us meet people where they are—whether that’s in neighborhoods farther from a branch, at rural stops, senior centers, schools, or community gathering places.
What You Need to Do
- Plan Ahead: If you typically pick up holds or check out items from the bookmobile, please visit one of our branches or adjust your holds pickup location before January 5.
- Follow Updates: We’ll share route details, photos, sneak peeks, and launch information on our website and social media throughout January and February.
Thank you for your patience during this transition. We can’t wait to introduce you to the new Mobile Library and continue serving you—on the move—for many years to come.
