Growing Forward: Celebrating 10 Years of the Seed Library

Ten years ago, the Seed Library of Laramie County set out to answer a simple question: What if getting started with gardening were as easy as checking out a book?
A decade later, that idea has taken root across the county. The Seed Library has helped thousands of residents try gardening for the first time, discover what grows well in Wyoming, and build the confidence to keep coming back season after season.
From a Small Idea to a Shared Resource
Since its beginning, the Seed Library has grown into a trusted, seasonal resource built on access, learning, and community connection. It offers easy-to-grow flower, herb, and vegetable seeds selected specifically for Wyoming’s climate—free to Laramie County residents and available without a library card.
The Seed Library is a collaborative project of the Laramie County Library System and the Laramie County Master Gardeners. This partnership brings together the library’s role as a welcoming community hub with the Master Gardeners’ local horticultural expertise, helping make gardening approachable for beginners, newcomers to Wyoming, and anyone curious about growing something new.
More Than Seeds
While the seed packets are often what draw people in, the Seed Library has always been about more than what fits in an envelope.
Each year, gardening programs and workshops provide hands-on learning that supports successful growing. From understanding soil and planning a garden to starting seedlings and adapting techniques for Wyoming conditions, these programs are designed to meet people where they are and help them grow with confidence. They happen every season and remain a core part of the Seed Library experience.

Marking a Milestone with a Fresh Look
To celebrate 10 years of the Seed Library, we introduced a 10th anniversary version of the Seed Library logo for the 2026 season.
The update is intentionally modest. It honors the original look while reflecting how the Seed Library has grown over the past decade. The refreshed design improves clarity and flexibility for today’s print and digital use—ensuring the logo works just as well on signage and event materials as it does online.
You’ll see the 10th anniversary logo throughout the season on Seed Library programs, promotions, and materials tied to this milestone year.
Looking Ahead
The anniversary logo is just that—an anniversary marker. After the 10th anniversary season concludes, the Seed Library will continue using a refreshed version of its logo that carries this evolution forward. The goal is continuity, not change for the sake of change: a visual identity that reflects growth while staying rooted in the Seed Library’s familiar and trusted presence.
Just like gardening, the Seed Library continues to grow thoughtfully—building on what works, adapting to new needs, and planning for future seasons.
As we celebrate 10 years, we’re grateful to the volunteers, partners, and community members who have helped the Seed Library flourish. Whether you’re picking up seeds for the first time or returning with a well-worn garden plan, we invite you to be part of what comes next.
