Understanding Elections Starts with Information

Elections shape our communities—but understanding how they work isn’t always easy.
Between legislative decisions, ballot measures, and voting deadlines, it can be difficult to know where to start or how everything connects. For many people, the challenge isn’t a lack of interest, it’s a lack of clear, accessible information.
That’s where the library comes in.
This spring, Laramie County Library System is launching the Informed Voter Series, a set of nonpartisan programs designed to help community members better understand Wyoming’s government, election processes, and what to expect as the 2026 election season approaches.
This series isn’t about telling anyone how to vote. It’s about making sure everyone has access to the information they need to participate confidently.
A Place to Start
If you’ve been looking for a way to better understand what’s happening in Wyoming—and what it means for upcoming elections—the first session offers a clear place to begin.
Legislative Session Wrap-Up & Election Preview
Thursday, April 2 | 6:00–7:30 pm
This opening session will walk through key outcomes from the 2026 Wyoming Legislative Session and explore how those decisions may shape the months ahead.
You’ll also learn about important voting deadlines and where to find reliable information as the election season moves forward.
If you’re planning to vote this year, this is one of the easiest ways to get grounded in what’s happening and what to expect.
Join in the Way That Works for You
All sessions take place in the Cottonwood Room at the Cheyenne library, but you don’t have to be in the room to be part of the conversation.
Each session will also be streamed live on the Laramie County Library System Facebook page, so you can join from home or watch later if your schedule doesn’t allow you to attend in real time.
Building Understanding Over Time
The Informed Voter Series is designed to build knowledge step by step.
Future sessions will explore:
- The Wyoming Constitution
- The three branches of state government
- What will appear on the 2026 ballot in Laramie County
- Candidates running for local and federal offices
Whether you attend one session or follow the full series, each conversation is designed to make the process more understandable—and less overwhelming.
