What to Know Before You Go: New Year’s at Noon

5… 4… 3… 2… 1!
Get ready to ring in the New Year—library style. New Year’s at Noon is a high-energy, family-friendly celebration featuring crafts, snacks, games, and a festive balloon (and confetti) drop exactly at noon.
To help everyone have a safe, fun, and stress-free experience, here’s what you need to know before you arrive.
Plan Ahead & Choose Your Spot
New Year’s at Noon is a popular event, and the library will be busy and crowded during the celebration. We encourage families to:
- Have a plan before 11:55 a.m. and decide where you want to be for the countdown.
- Line up in your preferred location around 11:55 a.m.
- Please do not line up early in the gallery—clear walkways are needed so everyone can move safely to their destinations.
LCLS staff will be throughout the building to help guide patrons and ensure walkways remain open.
Balloon & Celebration Drop Options
Main Balloon Drop – Gallery (First Floor)
- This is the largest drop and the most crowded area.
- Expect loud noise and a high-energy atmosphere.
- Once you line up here, it may be difficult to move to another location quickly.
- After the drop, children will pop balloons—expect lots of sudden, loud noises.
- Viewing from the second floor is possible, but space is limited.
Second Balloon Drop – Youth Area (Second Floor)
- More room to spread out and less crowded.
- Balloons drop from a lower height—ideal for toddlers and younger children.
- A great option for families who want the excitement with a little more space.
Bubble Celebration – Early Literacy Center
- Bubbles instead of balloons.
- A gentler experience for younger children.
- The room will open at 11:55 a.m.
Confetti Drop – Sunflower Room (Third Floor)
- Our sensory-friendly option.
- Quieter, less crowded, and designed for those who prefer a calmer celebration.
- No balloons or noisemakers are allowed in this room.
- The room will open at 11:55 a.m.
Not Attending the Celebration?
If you are visiting the library but not participating in New Year’s at Noon, please be aware that the building will be especially busy during the celebration window between 11:00 am and 1:00 pm.
Our goal is to create a safe, welcoming, and joyful New Year’s celebration for all ages and needs. Thank you for planning ahead, following staff guidance, and helping make this a positive experience for everyone.
We can’t wait to celebrate with you—Happy New Year.
