Wyoming Book Awards 2025: A Reading Program for Wyoming Families

The Wyoming Book Awards return this winter, offering families an easy, engaging way to support reading at home while giving children and teens a voice in choosing award-winning books. From January 12 through March 15, students in grades K–12 can read nominated titles and vote for their favorites.
Designed by librarians and educators, the Wyoming Book Awards highlight quality literature and encourage thoughtful reading across age groups.
About the Awards
Each year, young readers help select winners in three age-based categories:
- Buckaroo Book Award: Grades K–3
- Indian Paintbrush Book Award: Grades 4–6
- Soaring Eagle Book Award: Grades 7–12
Participants read from a list of ten nominated titles in their category and help decide which books receive statewide recognition.
How Families Participate
Participation is flexible and fits easily into family routines. To vote, students:
- Read at least three nominated books in their age group
- Log reading using Beanstack
- Vote for a favorite title
Readers who continue beyond three books earn additional entries for prize drawings.
Tracking Reading with Beanstack
All reading and voting takes place through Beanstack, the library’s online reading platform. Registration opens January 12 at lclsonline.beanstack.org. Parents can manage multiple children under one account.
Families needing help getting started can contact the library at 307-634-3561 for assistance.
Why It Matters
The Wyoming Book Awards encourage children to reflect on what they read, talk about books, and explore new authors. Voting gives students a sense of ownership in their reading while helping families build regular reading habits.
The Wyoming Book Awards offer a simple, meaningful way for families to read together and celebrate books all winter long.
