Special Collections

Discover resources that preserve the stories of Wyoming, the West, and our community.

The Laramie County Library’s Special Collections preserve and share materials that document our community, our state, and the history of the American West.

Located on the north end of the third floor in the Cheyenne Library, the Special Collections Room is open during regular library hours. Staff at the Ask Here desk are available to assist with research and access.

The collections include resources on genealogy, Wyoming history, Western exploration, and local research materials unique to our library. While items in Special Collections do not circulate, photocopying options are available, and in some cases, a circulating copy may be provided.

the leclercq jones collection

Wyoming native and historian LeClercq Jones donated an extensive research collection on Cheyenne’s architecture and cultural history. Through hundreds of detailed photographs and drawings, he captured the evolution of the city’s buildings and streetscapes.

Copies are available for in-library use, and original binders may be accessed by appointment with the Special Collections Librarian.
