Masks, Storytime, and High-Flying Action: Lucha Libre Is Coming to the Library
Professional lucha libre is coming to Laramie County Library System, and you’re invited.
On Wednesday, July 15, Laramie County Library System and the Laramie County Library Foundation will host Lucha Libre @ the Library, a free community celebration featuring professional lucha libre wrestling, family activities, and plenty of opportunities to join the fun.
If you’ve never experienced lucha libre before, you’re in for a treat. Originating in Mexico, lucha libre is a style of professional wrestling known for its colorful masks, fast-paced aerial maneuvers, and larger-than-life characters. More than just a sporting event, it blends athleticism, storytelling, and tradition into an exciting spectacle that has entertained audiences for generations.
Whether you’re curious about lucha libre or already a fan, July 15 is a chance to experience this vibrant tradition while enjoying a full day of activities at the library.
A Full Day of Fun
The celebration begins in the morning with hands-on activities for children and families before culminating in an evening of live professional wrestling in the library parking lot.
9:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m.
Decorate your own colorful lucha libre mask and take it home.
1:00–5:30 p.m.
Test your speed, balance, agility, and determination on the Luchador Obstacle Course.
3:00-4:00 p.m.
Join us for Storytime with Luchadors! Cuentos y Amigos: Lucha Libre!, a special bilingual storytime presented in partnership with CHISPA. Families will enjoy stories, songs, snacks, and a craft in both Spanish and English before meeting some very special masked guests.
5:00–7:00 p.m.
Cheer on professional luchadors, as they bring high-flying action and larger-than-life personalities to the library parking lot for an evening of live wrestling.
Throughout the evening, you’ll also find food trucks, face painting, cotton candy, and festival-style fun for all ages.
