Grab Your Wand, It’s Time to Celebrate Harry’s Birthday!

Yellow and maroon striped scarf with leather book and wand.

The library is becoming a world of wizarding adventure for one enchanting afternoon, and you’re invited!

Join us on Friday, July 31, as we celebrate Harry’s birthday with an afternoon full of wizarding fun. Come dressed in your favorite robes, house colors, or magical attire and enjoy magical activities inspired by the Wizarding World.

There’s something to discover around every corner! Get sorted into your Hogwarts house with the Sorting Hat, snap a green screen photo, create your own dragon egg and Pygmy Puff crafts, explore Herbology with LEGO plants, and test your skills in the Triwizard Obstacle Course. You can also search for hidden clues during a scavenger hunt and complete a magical quest throughout the library. Of course, no celebration would be complete without a stop at Honeydukes for themed treats and snacks!

Explore the Wizarding World Throughout the Library

Your adventure will take you all around the library as you visit themed locations:

  • The Entrance Hall (Willow Room): Sorting hat and green screen pictures
  • The Great Hall (Cottonwood Room): Honeydukes, snacks and costume contest
  • Hagrid’s Hut (The Commons): Dragon egg craft
  • Quidditch Pitch (Early Literacy Center): Triwizard obstacle course
  • Care of Magical Creatures Classroom (Second Floor Nonfiction Tables): Pygmy puffs craft
  • Herbology Greenhouse 1 (Sage Room): LEGO® plants
  • Quest Grounds (Second Floor): Scavenger hunt and quest
  • Luna’s Leisure Room (Study Room 2A): Chillville

Be sure to show off your magical style during the costume contest at 3:00 p.m. Whether you’re a brave Gryffindor, a clever Ravenclaw, a loyal Hufflepuff, a cunning Slytherin, or you’ve created your own magical look, we can’t wait to see your creativity.

With so many activities happening throughout the afternoon, we expect the library to be busier than usual. If you’re visiting on July 31, plan for extra excitement, larger crowds, and plenty of young witches, wizards, and Muggles enjoying the celebration.

Whether you’re a lifelong fan or discovering the magic for the first time, this celebration is a wonderful opportunity to make memories with family and friends.

Happy Birthday, Harry! takes place Friday, July 31, from 2:00–4:00 p.m. at the Laramie County Library. The event is free and open to all ages, so gather your fellow witches, wizards, and Muggles and join us for an unforgettable afternoon of birthday magic!
