Explore the Proposed 6th Penny Projects at the Library

Strong communities begin with informed community members. Learning about local issues, asking thoughtful questions, and understanding the decisions that shape our community are all important parts of civic engagement. If you’d like to learn more about the proposed 6th Penny projects before the August 18 election, Laramie County Library System invites you to join us for a community open house.

The 6th Penny Project Open House will take place on Monday, August 3, from 5–7 p.m. in the Cottonwood Room at the Cheyenne Library.

This free, come-and-go event offers a unique opportunity to hear directly from the people leading the proposed projects that will appear on the August 18 ballot. Rather than a formal presentation, the evening is designed as an open house, allowing you to move from project to project, explore displays, ask questions, and spend time learning about the topics that matter most to you.

Representatives for the proposed Laramie County projects are expected to attend, and representatives for the proposed City of Cheyenne projects have been invited.

“One of the library’s most important roles is helping people access the information they need to make informed decisions,” said Antonia Gaona, Executive Director of Laramie County Library System. “This open house offers a unique opportunity for residents to engage directly with the people behind the proposed projects, ask questions, and have thoughtful conversations that go beyond what they can learn from a brochure or website.”

Whether you’re just beginning to learn about the proposed projects or looking for answers to specific questions, the open house provides a welcoming, nonpartisan environment where you can gather information and engage in conversation with project managers at your own pace. We hope you’ll take this opportunity to learn more about the proposed projects, ask questions, and join the conversation before the August 18 election.

Families are welcome. While adults visit with project representatives, children can participate in a hands-on activity by designing their own dream community project. Refreshments will also be provided.
