Take a Closer Look: September Exhibits at the Library
September brings a new collection of stories, perspectives and creativity to the walls of Laramie County Library. This month’s exhibits range from Wyoming’s native landscapes to photographs that capture the experience of seeing the world anew, along with original artwork created by members of our own community.
Exhibits have a way of adding something unexpected to an ordinary trip to the library. They give us the opportunity to share stories, ideas and creativity from our community and beyond, while giving you something new to discover simply by walking through the building.
Whether you have a few minutes to browse or want to spend some time with each display, make these three exhibits part of your next library visit.

Circle of light photo project
Presented by the Rocky Mountain Lions Eye Bank, the Circle of Light Photo Project features photographs taken by people whose sight was restored through eye tissue transplantation. Through their photographs, transplant recipients share the people, places and everyday details they are now able to see, offering a deeply personal look at the impact eye tissue donation can have on someone’s life.
The traveling project was created to help educate communities about eye tissue donation and transplantation while giving recipients an opportunity to tell part of their stories through the images they capture. From ordinary scenes to meaningful moments, each photograph offers a perspective shaped by the experience of restored sight.
Visit the first floor of the Cheyenne Library this September to experience the collection and the stories behind the photographs.

Wyoming native plant poster contest winners
Wyoming’s native plants do more than add color to our landscapes. They provide food and habitat for wildlife, support healthy ecosystems and play an important role in the places we call home. This September, see those connections through the creativity of young artists from across the state in the Wyoming Native Plant Poster Contest Winners exhibit.
Sponsored by the Wyoming Native Plant Society, the 2026 contest invited Wyoming students in grades 6–8 to create original posters inspired by the theme “Native Plants Benefit People.” Students were challenged to explore the many ways native plants contribute to our lives and then translate what they learned into artwork of their own.
Three winning posters were selected from this year’s entries and are traveling to libraries throughout Wyoming from June through November. Stop by the second floor of the Cheyenne Library to see the winning designs and discover how Wyoming students combined art, science and their own perspectives on the native plants growing around us.

Library card art contest exhibit
Laramie County Library’s second annual Library Card Art Contest invited artists to submit original designs for the library’s newest collection of library cards. Entries were divided into four age groups, giving artists of different ages the opportunity to put their own creativity, ideas and style into something thousands of people carry with them every day.
Four winning designs were selected, one from each age group, showcasing the different artistic styles and perspectives found throughout our community. Each winning design became part of this year’s new collection of library cards.
Throughout September, visit the first floor of the Cheyenne Library to see the four winning designs on display and get a closer look at the artwork behind this year’s new library cards.
