Discover Something New with Your Library Card

Your library card can take you a lot farther than you might think.

In fact, it may just take you on your next trip to one of Wyoming’s state parks, And once you’re there, there’s even more to discover.

Through the State Park pass program,  cardholders can check out a Wyoming State Parks pass at any Laramie County Library location and explore the state’s parks, historic sites, and trails. It’s an opportunity to get outside, visit somewhere new, and experience more of the state we call home.

Getting there is only part of the adventure.

Close to home, Curt Gowdy State Park offers miles of trails, three reservoirs, fishing, mountain biking, and a landscape shaped by geology more than a billion years old. Travel farther across the state and you can watch the Popo Agie River disappear underground at Sinks Canyon State Park, see mineral terraces and bison at Hot Springs State Park, or explore Wyoming’s history near Guernsey State Park.

And those are only a few of the places you can discover.

Laramie County Library also offers Adventure Backpacks designed to help you take a closer look at what you find along the way. Each backpack includes binoculars, a compass, magnifying glass, bug box, and pocket guides covering Wyoming birds, wildlife, geology, weather, trees, wildflowers, and more. Each one also comes with a day-use entry pass.

Spot a bird you’ve never seen before? Take a closer look through the binoculars. Find an unusual rock along the trail? Pull out the geology guide. Notice a wildflower you don’t recognize? There’s a guide for that, too.

Discovery doesn’t have to mean traveling somewhere far away. Sometimes it’s visiting a place you’ve driven past dozens of times, noticing something you’ve never noticed before, or deciding to find out a little more about the world around you.
