Design the Next LCLS Library Card

A library card is one of the most recognizable parts of the library. It connects community members across Laramie County to books, technology, creativity, learning, and experiences that reflect a wide range of interests and perspectives.

Now in its second year, the Library Card Art Contest invites community members of all ages to help shape the next official Laramie County Library System card designs through original artwork.

This year’s contest encourages participants to design artwork inspired by the creativity, interests, and perspectives that make our community unique. Just as the library supports a wide range of interests, ideas, and experiences, the contest encourages artists to create designs that reflect what inspires them.

Whether that inspiration comes from nature, music, sports, gaming, science, culture, hobbies, travel, or imagination, artwork does not need to be library-themed.

Whether you participated last year or are considering entering for the first time, this is an opportunity to contribute to something that will be seen and used throughout the community every day.

To participate, create an original design at double the size of a standard library card, measuring 6.75 by 4.25 inches, so it can be properly formatted for printing. Accepted mediums include fine art, digital media, and photography.

Entries may be submitted online or by using a paper entry form available at any LCLS location. Completed paper entries may be returned to any service desk.

Four winning designs will be selected, with one winner in each of the following age categories:

  • Ages 0–6
  • Ages 7–10
  • Ages 11–14
  • Ages 15 and older

Entries must be submitted by June 23 to be considered. Community voting will take place July 1–15, and winning designs will debut on official LCLS library cards beginning September 1.

The current 2025 library card designs will retire when the new winning designs launch this fall, so community members who would like one of the current cards are encouraged to pick one up while they are still available.

We are looking forward to seeing the ideas and creativity that come forward this year.
