Informed Voter Series Recap: The Three Branches of Wyoming Government

Thank you to everyone who joined us for last night’s Informed Voter Series at Laramie County Library System, both in person and online.
During the third session, The Three Branches of Wyoming Government, Dr. Lily Rowen from Laramie County Community College explored how Wyoming’s legislative, executive, and judicial branches are structured and how they work together to shape public policy and decision-making across the state.
Attendees learned about the responsibilities and powers of each branch, how checks and balances function at the state level, and the role these systems play in Wyoming government. The session also included discussion of Wyoming’s 6th penny tax, including what it is, how it works, and how tax measures like it move through the civic process.
The Informed Voter Series is designed to provide clear, nonpartisan information to help community members better understand the civic processes that shape elections and public policy.

The final session in the series, 2026 Elections & Voter Information, will take place on Thursday, August 6. Participants will receive an overview of what will appear on the ballot in Laramie County, including candidates, initiatives, and potential amendments. The session will also cover how to register to vote, where to find reliable voter information, and what to expect throughout the voting process.
We hope you’ll join us as we continue building a more informed and engaged community.
