PBS Screening: Repairing America’s Broken Social Bonds

As part of Common Ground: 250 Years of Stories in the Making, Laramie County Library System invites the community to explore how stronger relationships and deeper understanding can help build a more connected community.
On Wednesday, May 27 from 6:00 to 7:30 pm in the Cottonwood Room, join us for a screening of “Repairing America’s Broken Social Bonds,” an episode from PBS’s Wisdom Keepers featuring renowned author and New York Times columnist David Brooks. In this thought-provoking conversation, Brooks explores growing fractures in American society and shares ideas for rebuilding trust, strengthening community ties, and fostering a greater sense of connection.
Libraries have long served as places where people from different backgrounds and perspectives can come together to learn, reflect, and engage with one another. This program continues that tradition by creating space for conversation around the importance of community, empathy, and shared understanding.
Following the screening, attendees will be invited to participate in a guided discussion focusing on ways we can foster stronger bonds within our community.
Whether you come to listen, share your perspective, or simply reflect on the ideas presented, this program offers an opportunity to engage in meaningful conversation and explore what common ground can look like in everyday life.
