Seed Library Opening Day at LCLS

Celebrating 10 years of growing Together
The Seed Library of Laramie County opens for the season on March 21, and this year’s launch is especially meaningful as we celebrate 10 years of growing together.
Seed Library Opening Day marks the annual kickoff to the gardening season at Laramie County Library System. It’s a chance for community members to explore seed varieties, connect with staff and local gardening experts, and take home seeds.
The Seed Library is a collaborative project between Laramie County Library System and the Laramie County Master Gardeners. Seeds in the collection are carefully selected to thrive in Wyoming’s climate, helping both beginners and experienced gardeners grow successfully at home. In addition to seed access, the Seed Library offers classes and workshops throughout the season that introduce gardening basics and support new and seasoned gardeners.
A Library System-wide Celebration
For the first time, opening day events will happen at all three Laramie County Library System locations, bringing the celebration closer to communities across Laramie County. Master Gardeners will be available at all locations, offering guidance and answering questions as visitors select seeds for their gardens.
Opening Day Locations and Times
Cheyenne | 10:00 AM – 1:00 PM
Burns | 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM
Pine Bluffs | 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM
What to Expect
Seed Library Opening Day in Cheyenne is one of the library’s most popular events and typically brings hundreds of gardeners together to kick off the growing season. Visitors can browse a wide selection of Wyoming-friendly seeds and connect with local gardening experts.
Because of the event’s popularity, the Cheyenne library will be very active during event hours, with increased activity in public spaces throughout the building. If you plan to visit the library for other services, you may want to consider planning your visit outside of event hours or on another day.
The Gardening Season Starts Here
Opening Day marks the start of the Seed Library season, but it’s only the beginning. The Seed Library remains open through November, giving gardeners plenty of opportunities to return throughout the growing season.
Wherever you join us – Cheyenne, Burns, or Pine Bluffs – we look forward to celebrating the start of another growing season with you.
