Design the Next LCLS Library Card

Each year, our community has the opportunity to help shape one of the most recognizable parts of the library—its library card.
The Library Card Art Contest is returning for its second year, once again inviting artists of all ages to create original artwork that could become an official Laramie County Library System library card. It is a simple idea with a meaningful outcome: designs created here become part of how our community experiences the library.
The 2026 contest opens the week of May 18, giving you time now to start thinking about your design. Whether you participated last year or are considering it for the first time, this is your opportunity to take part.
This year’s contest encourages participants to design artwork that highlights the creativity, interests, and perspectives that make our community unique. Just as the library supports a wide range of interests, ideas, and experiences, the contest encourages artists to create designs that reflect what inspires them.
To enter, create a unique piece of artwork using the medium of your choice. Designs should be created at double the size of a standard card, measuring 6.75 by 4.25 inches, to ensure they can be properly formatted for printing.
This year, submitting your entry is more flexible. Artwork can be submitted online, or you can pick up a paper entry form at any LCLS location and return it to a service desk.
After the submission period ends, entries will move on to a public voting process, where community members will choose the final designs.
Four winning designs will be selected, with one winner in each age category:
- Ages 0–6
- Ages 7–10
- Ages 11–14
- Ages 15 and older
Winning artwork will be featured on official LCLS library cards beginning September 1. New and replacement library cards are available at no cost to Laramie County residents.
Community members who would like one of the current 2025 library card designs are encouraged to pick one up this summer, as those exclusive designs will retire when the new cards are released.
If you have been thinking about participating, now is the time to get started. We are looking forward to seeing the ideas, perspectives, and creativity that come forward this year.
