How well do you really know downtown Cheyenne?

Sure, you probably know where to grab coffee, which streets to avoid during Frontier Days, and maybe even where your favorite mural is. But do you know the stories behind the buildings you pass every day? Or the people and events that helped shape the community we know today?

That’s exactly what Anywhere Adventures with Vivian Li is all about.

On Thursday, July 9, join us for Anywhere Adventures with Vivian Li, a guided walking tour that will help you discover downtown Cheyenne in a new way. Led by Library of Congress Innovator in Residence Vivian Li, the tour explores three local history sites featured in her Anywhere Adventures project, and the stories that bring them to life.

Along the way, Vivian will share how she researches local history, demonstrate how to use the Anywhere Adventures mobile website, and offer practical tips for uncovering stories in your community. As we walk, you’ll use the site to document your journey, creating an interactive experience from start to finish.

Whether you’re a lifelong Cheyenne resident, new to town, a history enthusiast, or simply looking for a unique evening activity, you’ll come away with a deeper appreciation for the places you thought you already knew.

The walk covers approximately 1.7 miles through downtown Cheyenne. We’ll meet in the Willow Room on the library’s first floor before heading out promptly at 5:15 PM. Please wear comfortable shoes, dress for the weather, bring sunscreen, and don’t forget a water bottle.

If weather prevents us from walking, we’ll stay at the library for a virtual tour and hands-on activities exploring local history.

Some of the best discoveries are waiting close to home. Join us and see what stories downtown Cheyenne has to tell.
