Learn About Wyoming’s Industrial Development Process, Including Data Centers

Data centers have become one of the most discussed topics in Laramie County. Many residents are asking how projects like these are evaluated, which state agencies are involved, and what environmental reviews are required before development can move forward.

To help answer those questions, Laramie County Library System is sponsoring an Industrial Development & Data Center Information Forum presented by the Wyoming Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ).

The forum will take place Tuesday, August 25, from 6–8 p.m. in the Surbrugg/Prentice Auditorium at Laramie County Community College.

As part of its mission to connect community members with reliable information, Laramie County Library System regularly partners with organizations and subject matter experts to provide educational opportunities on issues that matter to our community. This forum offers an opportunity to hear directly from the agency responsible for environmental oversight and to better understand Wyoming’s role in reviewing large industrial projects.

During the first hour, DEQ leadership and division administrators will explain how environmental permitting and review work, how the agency’s divisions contribute to that process, and how facilities such as data centers are evaluated under Wyoming’s regulatory framework.

The second hour will be devoted to a moderated question-and-answer session, giving attendees an opportunity to ask questions directly to DEQ officials.

Community members who wish to ask a question will be invited to sign in when they arrive and write their question on a provided card. This process helps the moderator organize questions and allows time to address as many as possible.
