Take a Closer Look: October Exhibits at the Library

October brings a celebration of culture, tradition, and creativity to Laramie County Library with a special exhibit honoring Día de los Muertos, or Day of the Dead. This month’s display offers visitors an opportunity to discover a meaningful cultural tradition and the stories behind it. Exhibits have a way of adding something unexpected to an ordinary trip to the library. They invite us to explore different perspectives, experience something new, and connect with the people and traditions that make our community unique.
Whether you’re familiar with Día de los Muertos or learning about it for the first time, take a few moments during your next library visit to explore this month’s exhibit.
There’s plenty to discover when you take a closer look.
Día de los Muertos Ofrenda
Laramie County Library System is pleased to present a display of altars, also called ofrendas (offerings), created by employees to commemorate Día de los Muertos and honor departed loved ones.
Día de los Muertos (Day of the Dead) offers a unique, colorful perspective on death that turns a sad fact of life into something to celebrate. The Cheyenne Día de los Muertos Community Celebration seeks to share the cultural significance of this holiday and provide a welcoming space for people to celebrate publicly. This celebration exists as an educational opportunity for the entire community to learn about cultures and traditions in an inclusive way.
