It’s Banned Books Week and you’re invited to book it on down to the “Cooney Roost,” the beatnik word for library! Bring your favorite banned or challenged book and read aloud a few lines for the other hipsters to enjoy. If you’re brave enough, share aloud one of your own poems, similar to the poetry slams of the ‘60s. Try your luck at games and win a prize. Be creative and design a comic book bookmark or a book page ornament. Walking tacos and iced coffee will be provided. Dressing in black or groovy ‘60s garb is optional, but encouraged! For more information and examples of banned or challenged books, please call the library or visit with staff.
