Summer Screen Printing

This summer, teens learned about the process of screen printing and practiced making prints on paper before making t-shirts. Using a mesh screen makes it possible to produce a clean, professional looking image. Screen printing works on paper, clothing, wood and even metal. Colorado Teen Lit Conference

What is the Colorado Teen Lit Conference? CTLC is an annual event dedicated to promoting and celebrating teen literature. New authors visit and share their experience as do librarians, teachers and teens in specialized sessions. Here’s what teens from our library had to say about the event in April of 2019.

Young Activities Squad (YAS)

The Laramie County Library System’s Young Activities Squad is made up of students in grades 7-12. LCLS seeks YAS’s input regarding ideas for programs, services, and materials specifically for teens. YAS generally meets the first Tuesday of the month at the Laramie County Library in Cheyenne.

The Teen Lounge

We know it’s important for teens to have a space they call their own—that’s why we’ve got a lounge designed specifically for them. No parents allowed! Located in the far southern section of the second floor, teens can enjoy eight computers, two brightly colored study rooms, an outdoor terrace, and enough seating for all their friends. YAS maintains and updates the bulletin board with fun to-dos each month. The space is filled with natural lighting and the windows are often decorated with post-it note art.

YAS Activities
  • Help select materials for the teen collection
  • Promote teen activities to peers and schools
  • Provide ideas to help create an inviting teen area
  • Discuss new books
  • Volunteer for library programs
Benefits of YAS Membership
  • Your ideas count
  • You get involved in your community
  • You can improve your resume and college applications
  • You get first crack at new books
