Welcoming New Board Member Stacia Berry to the Library

Laramie County Library System recently welcomed Stacia Berry to its Board of Directors. Stacia’s first term on the Board will last from July 1, 2020 to June 30, 2023. Board members for Laramie County Library System are appointed by the County Commissioners who are required by Wyoming State statutes to provide library services to their constituents. Individuals who are interested in serving on the Laramie County Library Board, must fill out an application and turn it into the Commissioner’s office at least two months in advance to an open position. Each member joins the Laramie County Library System Board for different reasons and with different goals in mind; Stacia took the time to share some of hers with us.

Stacia Berry has lived in Laramie County for 35 years and is an active member of the community. She is an attorney who serves as the Deputy Director for the Wyoming Department of Agriculture and dedicates her time volunteering for both the Wyoming and National chapters of the Future Farmers of America (FFA) Organization. She graduated with both a bachelor’s and law degree from the University of Wyoming, as well as a master’s degree from Colorado State University.

Stacia describes herself as a lifelong library user, she even still has her very original library card! When asked why she wanted to join the Laramie County Library System Board she answered, “I believe reading changes lives, and libraries make reading accessible to all. A resource like this is critically important– readers are leaders!” She has always enjoyed the services that Laramie County Library System has to offer for patrons of all ages and believes that the library is a, “fantastic community resource.”

When considering her goals for the tenure of her involvement with the Board, Stacia took into consideration the toll of the recent COVID-19 pandemic. She says she’d, “like to see Laramie County Library System be as progressive and nimble as possible during this time of uncertainty to provide services to all members of the community.” She continued, “COVID-19 has certainly thrown everyone for a loop, but I want to help Laramie County Library System continue to find ways to stay open and provide services while keeping the community and staff safe.”

She sees the library’s top priority as continuing to serve the community in the best way possible, even if resources become limited in the future and says that she, “Looks forward to helping the Board support Laramie County Library System in its mission to serve the people of Laramie County by encouraging and supporting lifelong learning and adventure.” Laramie County Library System is thrilled to welcome Stacia to its team, and is excited to work with her in pursuit of the library’s mission.
